Clark Realty Capital Wins Three Best in American Living Awards
Orlando, Fla. — Professional Builders Magazine and the National Association of Home Builders recently honored Clark Realty Capital with three silver Best in American Living Awards (BALA) at the award ceremony held at Sea World Orlando.

Three of Clark's residential communities earned recognition, including honors for Best Smart Growth Community (up to and including 150 units) for "The Bricks", an historic renovation at Marine Corps Base Quantico; the award for Best Rural Exurban Smart Growth in a Neighborhood/Community for Crackerjack Flats in California; and the coveted Best Urban Smart Growth Community Award for Gateway Village, a new neighborhood built for Navy families stationed in San Diego.

The BALA awards program, considered one of the foremost residential design competitions in the country, honors a variety of projects in 41 categories including single-family rentals, rental developments, custom homes, and one-of-a-kind spec homes. Judges rate BALA submissions on the developer's ability to provide multiple transportation options, maximize infill opportunities, deliver a genuine experience of place, incorporate a mix of land uses, create jobs and economic development, offer a variety of housing choices, design pedestrian-friendly neighborhoods, and respect local traditions.

"We [the BALA awards] are the one award focused only on design," commented Judy Brociek, director of events for Professional Builder Magazine. "It's a national design competition... judged by peers in the industry."

"We are honored to receive recognition from such prestigious national organizations for our smart growth communities," said Michael Dowling, development executive of Clark Realty Capital. "At Clark, we firmly believe in responsible development, including transit-oriented design, smart growth, energy conservation, and green building, and are honored that this initiative has been recognized by our peers."

This achievement marks the second consecutive year that Clark Realty has been recognized with a BALA award. In 2005, Herryford Village at Fort Belvoir was honored with Best Suburban Smart Growth Neighborhood/Community. These awards are a testament to Clark Realty's continual commitment to Smart Growth principles.
