Clark Announces First Recipients of Pacific Beacon Scholarship Fund
SAN DIEGO — On Monday, the Clark Realty companies partnered with the San Diego Foundation to announce the first three winners of the Pacific Beacon Scholarship Fund, a newly established scholarship program dedicated to the educational pursuits of active military residents of the Pacific Beacon and Palmer Hall communities at Naval Base San Diego. The partnership donated $1,500 to each of the deserving candidates, who were chosen for their interest in post-secondary continuing education in their field of choice.

"Pacific Beacon and the San Diego Foundation have truly been a blessing and a vital part in the success and accomplishment of my educational goals," said Karl Antoine, a 19-year-old Hospitalman Apprentice. He and scholarship recipient Calvin Ashley, a 29-year-old Surgical Technologist, are stationed at Naval Medical Center San Diego. The two began their Navy career in Florida and share a lifelong goal of becoming Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNAs). Alyssa Gardiner, a Master-at-Arms (MA) with the Navy and the third scholarship recipient, is pursuing a career in criminal justice through National University, an educational sponsor of the award-winning Pacific Beacon project.

The partnership hosted an intimate reception at the San Diego Foundation office to recognize the scholarship winners and celebrate their accomplishments, providing representatives of the Pacific Beacon Scholarship Fund an opportunity to learn more about each of the recipients and their future career plans.

"It was fantastic to meet the recipients, who were genuinely appreciative of the award and the opportunity to live at Pacific Beacon," said Bryan Lamb, development executive at Clark Realty Capital.

The scholarship program was made possible through generous donations from numerous sponsors connected with the Pacific Beacon project, the nation's first large-scale privatized housing community for unaccompanied military personnel. Contributing sponsors include the Clark CARES Foundation, area contractors, and members of the local business community who contributed to the project's success.
