Clark Realty Companies Launch Pacific Beacon Scholarship Fund
SAN DIEGO — The Clark Realty companies and the San Diego Foundation announced today the establishment of the Pacific Beacon Scholarship Fund. This fund will directly benefit the educational pursuits of active military residents of the Pacific Beacon and Palmer Hall communities, which, developed through a public-private venture between the Department of the Navy and Clark Realty Capital, is the nation's first large-scale privatized housing community for unaccompanied military personnel.

"We are delighted to announce this new scholarship opportunity for our deserving residents," said Brian Driesse, development executive at Clark Realty Capital. "We will work together with the San Diego Foundation to identify and award applicants who demonstrate a great desire to further their education."

The Pacific Beacon Scholarship Fund is currently seeking applicants who demonstrate a formidable passion for post-secondary continuing education in the field of their choosing. Applicants must be active-duty enlisted unaccompanied Navy personnel and a current resident of Pacific Beacon or Palmer Hall. Interested candidates can download a scholarship application at www.pacificbeacon.com.

The program was made possible through generous donations from several donors who are connected with the Pacific Beacon project including the Clark Cares Foundation, area contractors, and members of the local business community who helped to bring this award-winning community to fruition.

"The Pacific Beacon community was built to improve the quality of lives of our Sailors," said Driesse. "This scholarship program follows in that mission to empower residents to succeed by affording them the opportunity to pursue their personal educational and career interests."

The scholarship fund will provide assistance with the cost of tuition, course materials, and books at any nationally accredited college or university in any field of study, regardless of Navy educational requirements. Applications must be received by April 30, 2010. For more information regarding the Pacific Beacon Scholarship fund, please email inquiries to scholarships@pacificbeacon.com.
